The Sherborne Castle Country Fair presents a fun and varied programme of events, rural activities, stands and entertainment including one of the largest standalone rare breed shows in the country. For one day each year one of the finest settings, with its picturesque grounds and lake surrounding Sherborne Castle, is transformed into a popular Country Fair with attractions, demonstrations and activities for all the family. We look forward to welcoming you for a lovely day out!  The Fair is open from 9.00am to 5.00pm and car parking is free. Dogs are welcome and you can find out more on the Dog Events page. Sherborne Steam & Waterwheel Centre Grand Open Day

Sunday 2nd June  11.30am to 3.30pm

This is planned as a grand unveiling by Kate Adie CBE DL of new interpretation displays at Sherborne Steam and Waterwheel Centre at 1 pm at Castleton pumping station in Sherborne (DT9 3RX).

As usual, our 26ft waterwheel  and the large Hindley steam engine will be in operation, with audio-visual presentation, and displays of machinery and items of local and historical interest. 

The plan includes music and commentary from Abbey104 radio, tearoom, basic refreshments, picnic area, toilet and  free parking on the adjacent Oborne road. 

There is wheelchair access to displays (except for the toilet and visitor centre). Entry is by donation.

Seventeen music courses for adult instrumentalists, singers, conductors and composers. Thirty international tutors and teachers and thirty professional and student concerts.

The bedrock of our courses is choral music and vocal masterclasses, conducting (Sherborne Summer School is internationally recognised "as one of the foremost summer programmes for training conductors"), composition, piano and piano accompaniment, jazz and orchestras.

Whether you are looking to play a Beethoven Symphony, sing a Puccini Mass or try your hand at jazz improvisation, you will find them all available at Sherborne Summer School. The courses are spread over two weeks; two weeks where you move out of the real world and immerse yourself in the sheer pleasure of making music and socialisinfg with other like minded people.

The summer school is held at Sherborne Boys School and concerts are given in Sherborne School, Cheap Street Church and Sherborne Abbey. Our concerts series, Concertfest, is open to all members of the public the programme for which will be published in July.
