There are new situations to face, new plans to make, new people to meet. Whether you are a life-long or long-term resident of Milborne Port, or newly arrived, if there is any way in which we can help, don’t hesitate to contact us.

What is Churches Together in Milborne Port?

In the 1980’s a number of like-minded Christians in the three churches in Milborne Port met together to discuss the possibilities of the churches working and worshipping more closely together.

Our work together was formalised in 1992 when all three churches signed a Covenant and became a Local Ecumenical Partnership, Churches Together in Milborne Port. This was renewed for a further seven years in 2000. We committed ourselves to one another under God, in joint prayer and worship; to explore our Christian convictions and their practical application; to co-operate as churches in ministry and pastoral care and in Christian witness to the world; and to work as a team in caring for the community; while acknowledging the rich diversity of our traditions.

Some of the activities we work at together include:  the Christmas Carol Service;  a service together in the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity;  an ecumenical Lent House Group and weekly Lent Lunches; the Palm Sunday Procession of Witness, and Good Friday service;  a joint service at Pentecost;  and a weekly Bible Study group.

In addition the parish church, dedicated to St John the Evangelist, has been shared by Anglicans and Catholics informally since 1969, and legally since 2005.
