Tickets for Sherborne Abbey Festival go on general sale on March 1st 2018.
With a nineteenth season in 2018, and many new tourism awards under its belt, the first weekend in May now means only one thing – wonderful music of all kinds at the acclaimed Sherborne Abbey Festival. The 2018 programme, taking place from 4th-8th May is full of wonderful music of all kinds.
There’s something for all tastes and ages with up to 70% of all performances free entry, making it one of Dorset’s most welcoming and accessible musical events. Everything from Intimate Sinatra with Matt Ford, popular Swing, Big Bands and Close Harmony to a Concerto Feast with Adrian Brendel, Rachmaninov to Taverner with the Tallis Scholars, Gospel from the London Adventist Chorale and much more is on offer.

This is a very successful event. Entry for sellers starts at 8am, £5 per car and 9am for buyers 50p.
It is a very good way to support your local hospital.
There are Bacon Butties, delicious cakes and beverages are provided. Free parking and toilet facilities.

Sherborne Castle Country Fair is a one-day rural event held in the grounds of Sherborne Castle.
This family day-out is held to raise funds for local children’s charities and youth organisations. It is a traditional country fair with displays and attractions, trade and craft stands and a rare and native breed animal show. The 2018 date is Bank Holiday Monday 28th May.
Tickets on the day cost: adult £12.50, children (5-16) £4.00, family* £30.00. Under 5's free. *Admits 2 adults and 3 fee-paying children. Save 15% when you purchase your tickets in advance: telephone 01749 813899. Car parking is free. Dogs are welcome, on a short lead.

On Saturday 7 July, the Royal Naval Air Station (RNAS) Yeovilton International Air Day takes place. The Somerset air station’s gates will be open to an expected 40,000 visitors!
The show will includes over five hours of dazzling flying displays with the attendance of fast jets, historic warbirds, helicopters, formation display teams and aerobatics. The aim is to display the world’s most capable pilots and their aircraft, both flying and static, providing a chance to see some magnificent equipment and meet our professional personnel in a family-friendly environment in the year of engineering.
There will be a vast range of attractions from the latest defence technology exhibitions, engineering fairs and service displays to trade stalls, arena displays and the chance to meet pilots and even sit in the cockpit! For the thrill seekers, there will be simulators, fairground rides and helicopter pleasure flights to enjoy. This show has everything to keep the whole family entertained.
Whether you are a first timer or a dedicated aviation enthusiast, the Air Day has something for everyone.

Great Show not to be missed.

The Stallholders will include:- Alweston Jam and Chutney Empire, , Chocolate Arthouse, Dorset Blue Viney, Devon Fishcakes, Fussels Fine Foods, James’s Cheeses, James’s Forager Spirit, Lavender Blue Food Company, Liberty Cakes, Little Groves Nursery, Meat Free Martha, Oxfords’ Bakery, Reads Coffee Roasters, Percy’s Bakery, Somerset Cider Brandy Co., Somerset Charcuterie, Tim Hurren’s Icecream Trike, Unusual Pork Pie Co., White Post Gate Honey, Wraxall Wines, Wyld Meadow Farm, and Yarty Cordials.
A variety of interesting Vintage/Classic cars & motorbikes will be on display.
Barbecued Hamburgers & Sausages, Refreshments, Ice cream, Beer and Cider will be here! Entertainment includes children’s activities.
It will be opened by Katharine Wright of Dorset Food and Drink.
This is proving to be a very successful show, AND will, of course, be in our amazing Village Hall. Please spread the word to your friends and relations – it really is a day NOT to be missed.
Proceeds go to Leigh Village Hall, The Hub, Yeovil and St Andrew’s Church, Leigh and other charities.

Sat 25 August - Sun 26 August 10am-5pm daily | Oak Fair
The Oak Fair will once again be held on the August bank holiday weekend. For anyone who hasn't visited before, this is a special event for those interested in woodcraft, timber, conservation and the countryside. There is something that will appeal to all members of the family including over 200 exhibitors, events in our arenas including The Heavy Horse Logger team who compete a number of challenges over the weekend, Mere Down Falconry who bring a variety of birds of prey that put on amazing displays and Have A Go Archery which is available to everyone to try!
We also have tree climbing and zip wires for the younger visitors to experience and Avalon Axes who demostrate axe throwing as well as letting all our visitors have a go! Market Square will be buzzing with local food and drink producers with the Childrens Area situated nearby that will have a range of workshops for all family members to take part in and scarecrow making!
There will also be performances in St Barnabas church over the weekend, Saturday will see Bagatelle returning to perform two short concerts and on Sunday the William Barnes Society.
