Fun for all the family - inflatable bouncy slide, 'sheep' racing, nerf gun tin can alley, china smashing & loads more stalls, raffle, bar, BBQ, vintage tea room with cream teas & the swimming pool will also be open for swims throughout the day so bring the kid's cozzies! Don't miss it!

Stock Gaylard House is a small Georgian (possibly earlier) Grade II* listed, country house. It is a symmetrical building of three floors (two stories and an attic) and is constructed of rendered rubble stone, under mainly hipped stone roof with some slate slopes and brick stacks.

Music in the Park - Sherborne Town Band presents a summer concert in the beautiful Pageant Gardens, Sherborne, Dorset.

Concert starts at 2.30pm, and includes appearances from Sherborne Youth Band, and soloists.

Bring a pic-nic, the family and enjoy the sunshine and music!

Our parade once again celebrates local Volunteers.

Led by the Mayor, leaving the football ground at Noon and also featuring pupils from Shaftesbury School, local organisations, community groups and volunteers, to arrive at the Abbey for an afternoon of music.
Leisure and craft stalls along Park Walk.
Rotary tea tent in the Rose Garden.
Bottle Stall (wine or water?), Coconut Shy, Shooting Gallery, Face Painting and Kiddies Activities.
Musical activities in the Abbey grounds between 3pm and 6pm

This is a community event for the people of Shaftesbury. This year we are raising money for Polio Plus a Rotary Charity which is committed to the eradication of polio throughout the world and local good causes.

Doors 7pm.  Free entry. We invite musicians, singers, comedians and more to showcase their talent or try out new material at our popular open mic event, run by James Budden.

Come along and join our summer fete.

We have many interesting stalls and games for all the family. We also have Tae Kwon Do and a Street Dance demonstration. Great entertainment and family fun. Please come along and support our school.

The annual St John's Church Fete will be held on Saturday 13th July. 

All your favourite stalls will be there, books, plants, trash or treasure, cakes and many others.  For the children there will be a Bouncy castle, ices and cream teas and watch out for the amazing Human Fruit Machine making a guest appearance. 

The Raffle will feature many prizes including a cash prize of £150 pounds plus bottles galore.  This will be held in the churchyard and the garden of Church House.

The Fleet Air Arm and the Battle of the Atlantic a lecture by Dr Malcolm Llewellyn-Jones on Thursday 18th July at the Fleet Air Arm Museum, RNAS Yeovilton.

This talk will explore the crucial role played by the Fleet Air Arm in the Battle of the Atlantic. In May 1942, the Admiralty commented '...that with adequate and efficient air escort', the U-boat '..."wolf-pack" attack on a convoy should be impossible'.  But the contribution of the FAA to the Battle of the Atlantic extended beyond its contribution to the defeat of the U-boat threat. It was also instrumental in combatting the enemy's surface ship and the aircraft atacks on Allied merchant shipping. This talk will address these aspects by surveying a number of historical episodes:

• The Sinking of the Bismarck, HM Ships Victorious and Ark Royal
• Defeating the Focke Wulf: The Bay of Biscay, Liberators and SL 89, Audacity and HG 84
• The next Escort Carrier: Archer, the Central Atlantic and Operation "Vigorous"
• Diversion to the Arctic Run: Avenger and PQ 18
• Another Diversion: Operation "Torch"
• Closing the Atlantic Air Gap: Liberators, Biter and Avenger, Swordfish and Avengers, Rockets and Mark 24 Mines
• Back to the Arctic: Operations "Tungsten" and "Judgment"

One of the star cars, in the Charterhouse auction of classic and vintage cars being held at Sherborne Castle is a 1924 AC Anzani with less than 7,000 recorded miles.  

A classic Bristol motor car has been pulled out of a garage in Devon by Dorset based Charterhouse Auctioneers, 20 years after the owner drove it in with a view to starting a programme of restoration. Please click on the atached PDF document to read the full details.

POWERMAN is a multisport event coming to Sherborne this summer.

It consists of a long and short course running along side of each other, the long course is a 10 km run, followed by a 120km bike finishing with a 20km run and the short course consists of a 10km run followed by a 60km bike then with a 10km run finishing in Cheap Street.

The Friends of Milborne Wick Church will also be serving Cream Teas at the Silverthorne Farm Open Day and Dog Show on Sunday September 1st.  Come along and have some fun.

This is a county-wide visual arts festival which showcases artist led-projects and exhibitions, providing a platform for artists to collaborate and show new work.

The festival celebrates the visual arts talent in Somerset and will be different from Open Studios event in the alternative year. The Festival focuses on group exhibitions, projects and events and is a celebration of the creative abilities of artists and their eagerness to expand their horizons and think "outside the box". We also encourage community groups, schools and non-profit making groups/organisations to take part. We welcome individuals and organisations who present a diverse range of media from pottery, painting and watercolour to new technology, installation and live arts.

Street market dating back to medieval times, held annually in Sherborne on the first Monday after 10th October – old Michaelmas Day. Although no longer an agricultural fair, it is still a major event in Sherborne with four of the town’s main streets becoming full of street traders and food stalls for the day, and a funfair is usually held on the edge of town on the Monday and the days preceding it.

One of the most spectacular fireworks displays to be found!

Sherborne Castle hosts entertainments, live music, refreshments and food from 5pm, bonfire will be lit at 7pm and the fireworks will start at 7.30pm.

Co-ordinated by Sherborne Area Youth & Community Centre and the Rotary Clubs of Sherborne and a proportion of the proveeds will go towards supporting charitable work in the town.
