Sat 08 NovemberThe 35th Annual Sherborne Castle Fireworks

The annual Sherborne Castle Fireworks will take place on Saturday November 8th 2014; gates open at 5pm. The event will once again look to enhance its reputation as one of the best shows and biggest shows in the South West.

The event which regularly attracts over 9000 people offers a full evening of entertainment including a fireworks show, a bonfire, fairground rides, food stalls and live music. There is something for all the family to enjoy. Gates open at 5pm, with the bonfire lighting at 7pm and the fireworks show starting at 7.30pm.

Learn some of the more common ‘hands’ of the many different scripts to be mastered when reading old documents, and get practical advice on deciphering them. Worskshop led by members of The English Cornett and Sackbut Ensemble culminating with evensong at Sherborne's famous abbey alongside the abbey choir directed by Paul Ellis. Repertoire to include Claudio Monteverdi's 8-part Magnificat.

Open to players of cornetto, violin, sackbut and dulcian. Beginners are very welcome.

Annual Christmas Craft and Food Market

This is the fourth year we have run this event and it is getting more popular each year. We have around 45 stalls attending and all the stalls will be selling quality, handmade, home-grown bespoke item varying from jewellery, cards, crafts, Christmas decorations, cakes, pies, local cheeses, a sweet stall, handmade wooden items, handmade ponchos, leather bags and purses and sheepskin slippers, leather gloves for car drivers, equestrian and fashion gloves, Phoenix card trader, jams and preserves, bath and beauty products made from all natural ingredients, we are lucky to have our caricature lady attending again this year who as a huge success.

We have our favorite burger man attending this year with his fantastic burgers, he was greatly missed last year but he will be back again this year. He will be selling his specialty burgers and a variety of others including bacon baps, which are always popular. We also have on offer hot and cold drinks, cakes and biscuits, so there is something for everyone.

Come along and get into the Christmas spirit at your leisure, get everything you need under one roof and sit back relax and enjoy some refreshments. Make this a date in your diary and come along and get Christmas wrapped up in one go with lovely quality items. DON’T FORGET CHRISTMAS IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER.

There is a large FREE car park and the event is also FREE entry.

BELLE is inspired by the true story of Dido Elizabeth Belle (Gugu Mabatha-Raw), the illegitimate mixed race daughter of a Royal Navy Admiral.

Raised by her aristocratic great-uncle Lord Mansfield (Tom Wilkinson) and his wife (Emily Watson), Belleas lineage affords her certain privileges, yet the color of her skin prevents her from fully participating in the traditions of her social standing.

Left to wonder if she will ever find love, Belle falls for an idealistic young vicaras son bent on change who, with her help, shapes Lord Mansfieldas role as Lord Chief Justice to end slavery in England.
