Music In The Park

The band are pleased to be back in the beautiful Pageant Gardens for three exciting concerts this summer.  The first and last concerts will feature the Sherborne Youth Band, showcasing their great music, under the baton of Musical Director Jim Bennett.

The gardens are always an enjoyable place to play, and we invite you to bring your family, bring a picnic, and enjoy a concert of light entertainment music.

Lancaster Insurance Classic and Supercars Show

The great South West charity car show at Sherborne Castle.

Now a 2-day weekend event and regarded as one of the premier classic and supercars show in the south of England. 2000 cars on display from chain driven monsters to the latest supercars.  With 30 car clubs, trade, craft and autojumble stands, and excellent food outlets, this is a day for both the enthusiast and family alike. Kate Bradbury comes to the Wildlife Friendly Gardening Awards Ceremony

Tonight RHS qualified gardener, author and journalist, Kate Bradbury, will give a captivating talk on making the most out of what the natural world has to offer at the Wildlife Friendly Garden Competition Awards Ceremony. 

Organised by Dorset Wildlife Trust and sponsored by The Gardens Group, this awards scheme takes place every year to celebrate gardeners who create havens for wildlife. Before this year’s winners are announced, Kate will reveal the do’s and don’ts of organic gardening, the best natural methods for pest control and advice on wildlife friendly planting.

Doors open at 6:30pm and tickets are £5 each for non-competition entrants, which includes drinks and canapés in The Walled Garden Restaurant.

The Friends invite you to a Wine Tasting Evening to be presented by David Copp, an international Wine Competition Judge, and member of the Circle of Wine Writers.  He will have some exciting new wines to showcase.

Whilst organised by, and on behalf of the Friends, the event is also in celebration of the 30th Anniversayry of Castle Gardens.  Hence the venue of the Butterfly House.

This poular Vintage and Classic Aircraft Fly-in and Classic Car Show is now in its 18th year. Decent weather can see well over a hundred aircraft on this ex naval airfield; they are backed by an equal number of oustanding vehicles from the 1930s to present day Super Cars. The event supports the airfield-based AIR AMBULANCE and (subject to tasking) this will be part of the lunchtime airpark and open for viewing. Adult admission is just £5 and acc U/16s are free. There is all-day catering and selected trade-stands. Don't miss the spectular 'Fly-past Salute' by the BBMF Lancaster and Spitfire Pair. Cheese Festival

The Cheese Festival is still run as a charitable event, by unpaid volunteers, within a framework provided by Sturminster Newton Rotary Club, with the committee comprising Rotarians and members of the local community. Over the last few years over £100,000 has been raised for the benefit of local charities and organisations.
