Grand Christmas Opening at Castle Gardens

From hanging thousands of baubles and labelling boxfuls of ornaments to building partition walls and painting festive scenes, Louise Burks, director of The Gardens Group, and her team are preparing for the centres’ much-anticipated and award-winning Christmas displays, which will be unveiled at a number of special open evenings throughout October.

Speculation is already building, but as always this year’s themes will be kept tightly under wraps right up until the big reveal. It won’t be long though until gardeners of all ages will be able wander through these magical wonderlands, which promise to feature meandering displays, twinkling lights and festive food and drink, to get everyone in the Christmas spirit.

Two Halves of Guinness

Mark Burgess' funny and insightful play was written especially for well-known actor Trevor Littledale.

Trevor gives an uncanny portrayal of Oscar winning actor Alec Guinness reflecting on acting, faith, family and his shattering insecurity, played to a background of the golden days of British film and theatre. We join Sir Alec in the late Seventies, as Star Wars is set to become one of the biggest films of all time, featuring his iconic performance as Obi-Wan Kenobi. Amidst fears he will be remembered only as a Jedi Knight, Sir Alec hadn't counted on the involvement of a master spy...

Tickets are priced at £12.00 and can be obtained from the hotel. A pre-show supper will be available starting at 5.30 pm; this must be booked in advance. Prices are £21.00 for two courses or £26.00 for three courses. Accommodation is also available at the hotel.

This event is in aid of the Oborne Village Hall which is a registered Charitable Trust.
