Wed 08 September - Thu 16 SeptemberDorset Architectural Heritage Week

Dorset Architectural Heritage Week is an annual event which aims to stimulate public awareness of Dorset's rich architectural and cultural heritage by allowing free access to many properties that are normally closed to the public or charge for entry.

The first half of the week is part of the national Heritage Open Days but Dorset contains such a wealth of fascinating architecture that the events continue in the County for a further four days!

Since 1994 Dorset Architectural Heritage Week (DAHW) has developed to such a degree that the Dorset Conservation Officers now work in partnership with East Dorset Heritage Trust to organise the week-long event. (Read more on About DAHW on their website.)

Sat 18 SeptemberCancelled RN Historic Flight Heritage Flying Day

Here's your chance to fly in a variety of light aircraft including a Tiger Moth, Stampe, Chipmunk, Dragon Rapide and more. For details visit the website.

Due to unexpected raised organisational costs and a reduced take-up of seats, the Trustees have most reluctantly had to postpone this year’s Charity Flying Day until September 2011. Details of next year’s event will be posted on the website in early 2011.

Two Gentlemen of Verona - or Vakomana Vaviri ve Zimbabwe

Performed by Denton Chikura and Tonderai Munyevu, directed by Arne Pohlmeier.

From Verona to Milan, via harare and Bulawayo, two great friends, Valentine and Proteus, vie for the love of the same woman.  When Valentine is banished, their friendship is threatened and only through disguise, deception and intrigue are they reconciled.

In triumphantly energetic "township" style, the two actors slip into all of the play's fifteen characters - from amorous suitors to sullen daughters, depressed servants and even a dog!

Using few to no props and a set that consists of no more than a trunk, the actors explore the text's nuances from a distinctly Zimbabwean perspective, bringing Shakespeare's verse to life in new and unfamiliar cadences.  With a watchful eye, great intuition and comic timing, the actors draw the audience into the action and create a vibrant and engaging theatrical experience not to be missed.
