AGREED OUTCOMES 20/05/2012
1. Anti social behaviour in Springfield Road Rec Ground
2. Speeding in and around Wheathill Lane, North Street, Gainsborough
OUTCOMES
1. This can be a real problem and I have been monitoring the situation. There has been lots of rubbish dumped in the car park area and this is mindless of those responsible. If you have litter when you are using the rec then get out of your vehicle and put it in the bins or take it home and put it in the bin. Don’t spoil it for everyone, it is not fair. THINK OF OTHERS NOT JUST YOURSELF, IT IS NOT COOL TO LEAVE YOUR RUBBISH ALL OVER THE FLOOR. If I catch you doing this there will be a fine, you have been warned!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2. This can be a real problem and I have received lots of complaints lately. A reminder that the speed limit is 30MPH. I will be asking that a traffic unit attend the location and carry out random speed checking. Be warned anyone found speeding will be dealt with. This is a busy road and it is more dangerous with few pavements and lots of young and old using this road. WATCH YOUR SPEED YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. A fine of £60.00 and 3 points on your driving licence is not to be taken lightly.
Next Parish Council Meeting is on 19th June 2012 at 7.30pm, and the next one will be on 17th July 2012. These are held in the Town Hall, London Road in Milborne Port. All are welcome.
WHAT HAVE I BEEN UP TO THIS MONTH.
I am still running my beat surgery every 5 weeks at Steps in North Street. The Coffee Shop is now re-opened on Tuesdays from 10.00 – 11.30, come along and have a coffee and a chat. Sometimes I am called away to jobs and I can’t always notify anyone so please accept my appologies in advance if this happens. The next dates are12/06/2012 and 17/07/2012 at 10.00 – 11.00.
MILBORNE PORT PRIMARY SCHOOL
I have been into school this month and spent 15/20 minutes with each year explaining yet again the importance of THE GREEN CROSS CODE. I took each class outside to the grassed area and we practiced crossing the road together safely. I also set them a competition which I will be judging and then presenting the winners with a prize.
Parents can also get involved in keeping their children safe by encouraging them to tell them (parents) how to cross the road safely. Parents need to listen to their children when they tell them it isn’t safe to cross here or lets use the crossing not just cross between parked cars etc. CHILDREN’S SAFETY WHILE CROSSING THE ROAD IS VERY IMPORTANT PLEASE ENCOURAGE YOUR CHILDREN.
THE BEECHES
I have been into The Beeches playgroup and spoken to the children. I love going in and seeing them all with so much energy and wanting to know and learn everything. Thank you to Gay, Maggie, Nicky and Cheryl who always make me feel welcome and let me sneak a drink and a biscuit.
SKATE PARK UPDATE
The second stage for our funding has gone in, and we are waiting for a reply to see if we have been successful. As soon as we hear anything I will let you know.
SK8PIPEDREAM will be holding an event on Sunday 1st July 2012 at Ven House. This year we will be holding a Classic and Vintage Car Show with refreshments, burgers a raffle and a chance to walk round the beautiful gardens. We are hoping to have the school choir as well and maybe a treasure hunt for the children. The tickets are going to be £2.50 per adult and all children under 16 years old will
be free of charge. Children are not permitted without an adult, and dog’s will also not be permitted. The proceeds of this event will be shared between the local school and the Air Ambulance. There will be no tickets to buy before hand just on the gate on the day. More details to follow but we should have at least 40 Classic and Vintage cars on the day.
GOOD NEWS TO REPORT Re the SK8PIPEDREAM Group
On Tuesday 1st May I was lucky enough to take the SK8PIPEDREAM group with their parents to Police HQ to collect their award. The award was for a group that had worked hard to put something back into the community and to inspire others. I was lucky enough to have been able to nominate the group, and I am so very proud of them. They were all very excited and the police put on a demonstration of firearms and dogs for them to watch. There were refreshments laid on for them to enjoy and the award was presented by The Chief Constable Colin Port and Pat Hunt from the Somerset Crime Beat team. The whole group went up to be presented with the award and trophy and each of them were spoken to by Colin Port and Pat Hunt. I was so proud of them all as well as their parents as they stood up there and took it all in their stride. What an experience for them all, I know each and every parent was so proud to see them getting the praise they all deserve for their hard work and dedication to the community. I would also like to
say a huge THANK YOU TO GINNY AND HAROLD BIGNELL OUR UNSUNG HERO’S OF SK8PIPEDREAM. THEY HAVE SUPPORTED THE GROUP AND HELPED OUT CONTINUOUSLY EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE NO CHILDREN IN THE GROUP. THANKS BOTH OF YOU.
FARMERS MARKET
We are holding our next FARMERS MARKET event on Sunday 1st of July 2012 due to the Jubilee parties around the area and the stall holders will be committed with these. The market will be held at the Queenshead pub from 10.30 – 1.30pm in the skittle alley and milk parlour. We have had lots of interest in this market. We are trying to get more food stalls to attend and now the Summer is on it’s way it should be easier as there is more produce around. Please come along and support this event, as we will be holding the FARMERS MARKET on the first Sunday of every month. We want to get Milborne Port on the map and have good events in our community for our community. Come along and have a coffee or hot chocolate and enjoy a bacon butty while looking at all the homemade local produce. We are always looking for more stall holders, and people can come as many times as they like to sell homemade and home grown produce. Don’t forget this can be food or crafts, and we want to encourage people to attend as this is something we want to build on for the future. If you have any suggestions or need any information on this please contact me on the usual methods.
If anyone would like to have a stall on this date or in the future please contact me on 07717117744 or Mandy.Forsey@avonandsomerset.police.uk The tables are free of charge as Toni and Steve have kindly offered us the rooms free of charge. All we ask that the produce is homemade or homegrown, no matter how big or small your stall is, come along and display your items.
SPRINGFIELD RECREATION GROUND
If you walk your dog at the recreation ground by the Village Hall, please make sure that you pick up after it and keep it on a lead. This is a public place and not
everyone likes dogs and some are frightened by them. There are signs there which remind you as well.
