Milborne Port Opera was formed more than ten years ago, and puts on at least one show a year. We hope you enjoy visiting our website and look forward to hearing your comments, on it and us. Or if you require any further information feel free to contact us.

Our next show will be Ruddigore by Gilbert and Sullivan from March 26th-29th 2008. Order your tickets from tickets@milborneportopera.co.uk.

Produced by Chris Bailward and directed by Neil Edwards, the musical production will, for the first time, be in the hands of Russ Shipley.

The Bad Baronets of Ruddigore are accursed! Ever since Sir Rupert Murgatroyd, the first Baronet, had a witch burned at the stake, they have been doomed to carry out a crime every day or to die in agony. Sooner or later, every one of them sickened to the life of crime and paid the penalty, until Sir Ruthven Murgatroyd attempted to escape his fate by running away to the village of Redderring under the name of Robin Oakapple, leaving his youngest brother Despard to inherit the title and its curse. Despard has become the blackest of villains while Robin lives a blameless life as a farmer. He loves Rose Maybud, the prettiest girl in the village, but is too shy to tell her......................... This pastiche of Victorian melodrama and Grand Opera was first performed at the Savoy Theatre in January 1887 and this is the second time that Milborne Port Opera have performed it.

We always welcome good new singers and actors, but if you have never had any connection with MPO please let us know who you are and a little about yourself by e-mail.
