The Last Bus (certificate 12A)

A foreshadowed event sets creaky, muttering Timothy Spall on a cross-Britain pilgrimage to Lands End utilising the free bus network that he can access with his travel pass.
With his map of the UK, precious brown suitcase and habit of nodding off, he learns to rely on a string of kind-hearted strangers, from hen-night revellers to a Ukrainian wedding.
The movie's momentum is arduously slow, thanks to the arbitrary timetable, and changes of location are signalled more by bus company livery than by scenery, but it's neatly told and briskly patted into feel-good shape by director Gilles MacKinnon.
Spall makes believable if not always generous company, and you'll find yourself cheering him on to his destiny.

The Last Bus (Cert TBC)

Showing on our new Big Screen is The Last Bus (Certificate TBC).

80-something Tom (Timothy Spall), whose wife has just passed away, uses his free bus pass to travel from John O’Groats to Lands End where they first met, using only local buses. It’s a nostalgic trip, but he’s also carrying his wife's ashes in a small suitcase, `taking her back'.
In the course of his travels he interacts with local people, and by the end of his trip he has become a celebrity.

Now, as faded memories and glimpses of lucidity trigger sudden mood swings, dear ones, Anthony's surroundings, and even time itself become distorted.
Why has his younger daughter stopped visiting?

Limbo (certificate 12A)

Omar is a promising young musician.
Separated from his Syrian family, he is stuck on a remote Scottish island awaiting the fate of his asylum request.
Limbo is a wry and poignant observation of the refugee experience, set on a fictional remote Scottish island where a group of new arrivals await the results of their asylum claims.
It centers on Omar (Amir El-Masry), a young Syrian musician who is burdened by his grandfather's oud, the king of Arabic music instruments, which he has carried all the way from his homeland.
